(SportsData) – Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin is dealing with a pair of injuries, but he will start Wednesday night against the San Antonio Spurs. Griffin has a burst bursa sac in his right elbow and a strained neck, Clippers head coach Vinny Del Negro said Tuesday.
“His elbow is a concern,” Del Negro told reporters. “His neck is a concern. But Blake is a tough kid. He’ll play through it and give us what he can give us.”
Griffin’s numbers are down noticeably so far this season, albeit through just four games. He’s averaging 16.3 points per game after posting 21.7 ppg during his first two seasons, and his field-goal percentage and rebounds per game are also lower than his career marks. The two-time All-Star has dealt with the elbow problem since last season.
“It’s a little bit worse,” Del Negro said. “There’s a little bit more swelling. He’s had that for a long time but this time it seems to be a little more than normal. It affects everything when you have a bunch of fluid in your elbow. It’s going to bother you but he’s going to fight through it and give us what he can.”
